Marlene Pixley graduated with a BFA in Textile Design from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, CA in 2006. The program focused on the basics of design with a heavy concentration on the practical skills of flatbed silkscreen printing.
Using these skills, she was fortunate enough to be one of the few designers chosen to collaborate with an elite group of fashion designers to create a runway collection inspired by her textile designs. From this collaboration her work was featured in Women’s Wear Daily, California Apparel News and International Textiles as well as a television program titled “Making the Cut” which tracked the design process of a small group of up and coming designers as they put together their runway collections in the San Francisco area.
Since graduation Marlene has moved to Monroe, Connecticut where she has pushed her creative limits working freelance on a wide range of projects for companies such as HL2, Windows Mobile, I’m Still ME!, All Natural Design and The Hamm & Clov Stage Company. She spends her spare time creating original textile designs to be sold throughout the women’s, children’s, paper and soft home goods industries through her agents at Kim Designs and Piccolo Principe Inc.
